The significance of Ruth character
Naomi has been compared to a “female Job”. She lost everything: home, husband, and sons, and even—her livelihood. She was therefore among the lowest rank of Israel: the poor and the widowed. Naomi was in grief and somewhat neglected to see the gift that God bequeathed her (Ruth)
Obedience, humility and faithfulness are three ingredients that please God. When we reflect such through our interactions with others, we bring glory to Him.
Ruth’s sacrifice and hard work to fend for Naomi replicated God’s love while Boaz’s loyalty to his kinsman, Naomi’s husband, demonstrated God’s faithfulness.
Naomi’s plan for Ruth’s future reflected God’s selfless love.
The book of Ruth demonstrates the blessings that obedience could bring. It fully depicts the loving, and faithful nature of their God. It shows that t God responds to His people’s cry. He practices what He preaches, so to speak. He provided for the two widows: Naomi and Ruth, two widows who had no hope for the future. God cares for the outcasts and this is summed up in the book of (Jeremiah 22:16; James 1:27).
Ruth’s actions rooted her faith in God and proved her to be a hard working loyal worker, caregiver, friend and a God fearing woman. Her confidence and bold approach of a marriage proposal to Boaz was supported by her faith and trust in God.
Prayer point: #8 . Father, do all that is necessary for me to learn to trust in you at all times in Jesus name.
